FALL-2008 SEMESTER

 

Introduction to instrumentation and measurement techniques in fluid mechanics. Pressure measurements and probe techniques. Fluid velocity and flow measurements. Transducer techniques. Hot-wire and Laser-Doppler anemometry techniques and flow visualisation. Scale modelling. Design of experiments. Data acquisition and statistical data analysis. Design and construction of experimental set-ups and performing experiments on a fluid mechanics problem or system. Laboratory experiments and experimental term project.
 
                         Prerequisite: ME 306 is strongly recommended.

15-12-2008-- All groups will make their progress presentations on 17-12-2008 wednesday, on lecture hour. Each group should also submit their progress report just before their presentation.

31-10-2008-- Term projects are assigned, if you still don't know which project you take, ask to the asistant.

31-10-2008-- You can take the course lecture notes from the photocopy room in E building.

21-10-2008-- While preparing your 2nd experiment reports, you can use ME-410 lecture notes on the web.

08-10-2008-- Experiment 2 has been updated please check whether you've downloaded the most recent one.

06-10-2008-- Do not forget to bring your data sheet to the experiment sessions.

06-10-2008-- A lab schedule is put into the entrance of the fluid mechanics laboratory, please fill out the schedule by writing your group members name. One group should fill two lab sessions, one for experiment 1 and one for experiment 2&3.

26-09-2008-- In order to see the projects use me\me483stu as the user name and if you forgot the password, ask me via email.

24-09-2008-- The lab sheets for the experiments are updated check the experiments link. Form your experiment groups and mail to hataysal@metu.edu.tr as soon as possible.
